Boiling Hot In Milan, Wanting A Cold Treat

Hi Matthias

Yesterday we were in Milan and saw the Last Supper made by Leonardo Di Vinci. I heard that it took 21 years to restore it, it was amazing. Afterwards I asked the question…CAN I HAVE GELATO? I picked the flavors Biscotti and Mint. I ate the Mint like a pig and the Biscotti like a human. In the biscotti I loved the little frozen crunchy pieces of chocolate covered in chocolate crumbs. The ice cream flavor was coffee with vanilla mixed together with a little bit of cold chocolate syrup. Daddy ate lime which I thought was very refreshing. I am excited to eat more refreshing gelato in venice till next time see you later.

Sydney

For the Kid…

Five years ago Kim and I came to Italy while Sydney stayed home knowing that it would be the last trip for a while without her. Sydney made sure we knew it as well… 🙂 Kim missed Syd very much and has been saying for a while that she would like to show Syd what we saw and today we began fulfilling that goal in Milan at Santa Maria Delle Grazie, the home of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. Hard to get into in the summer we had tickets for entrance before we had tickets to get to Europe. Worth all the effort, great pains to have been taken to protect the painting including limited crowds thru a multi-

airlock system that keeps the environment around the painting constant. Sorry, no pictures allowed, unless you think you are a clever tourist and use your cell phone… Sorry that was not us, the quality of the picture would not have met acceptable standards.

After the Last Supper we went to the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, a place that shows the many technological advances that Italians have made. Submarines, telegraphs, trains, etc. and of course the many contributions of one Leonardo da Vinci. An interesting side step as Kim puts it, this was Kim and my second visit and we were glad to introduce it to Sydney.

We decided to walk back to the hotel and ended up crashing a wedding ceremony at Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio . Good luck Francesca and Salvatore! The church has many relics including the remains on several Saints on prominent display, a sight that had Sydney spinning.

On the subject of spinning Sydney, after dinner we were packing for tomorrows departure and on MTV Italy (they do show actual music videos on this MTV) Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines video came on and Syd asked what it was about and I told her “eighth grade” which was enough to send her running from the room. Man, I am going to pay for that one…

I still cannot figure out how WordPress chooses to order things…

Tomorrow Venice and the effort to not lose my GoPro in a canal. Any of them…
