Siena

We took it a little slower today, have some busy days in the near future. After sleeping in a little we walked around the Piazza del Campo a little more then toured the Duomo di Siena, a medieval church that has parts stared in the 13th century. Quite the riot for the eyes, the pictures will tell you all. I took some reduced sized photos for the blog but even most of those came in too big to upload due to the details.

A rest again and dinner at one of the best restaurant on any trip to Siena and Italy, Osteria La Taverna di San Giuseppe. Great food when we dined here in 2008 and just as great in 2013. This time we had Sydney making it that much better who said the food made her want to dance. A good sign.

While on the subject of hat tips, a nod to the staff of the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena. Their service is still world class, on top of everything.

They have crazy horse race here twice a year, the Palio di Siena. We are here between the two race dates, July 2nd and August 16th. From talking to the locals the place goes absolutely nuts. May have to attend some day…

Stong vibe again on Saturday night. Saw several weddings today as well. Sydney again commented how much she hated to leave, hope we are planting some good seeds for her future.

Chocolate Bar Gelato?

Hi Matthais,

Yep thats right I had a kinder bar flavored cup of Gelato. I wanted to have chocolate too but I decided not to. I was wearing a really nice jacket and was eating really messy food. But luckily it did not spill all over me. After I gobbled it down I ate some of my dad’s too. After that we went andWe all had Fanta and wine and enjoyed the view of the people walking up and down the promanode. Then I went to bed and that was that.

Bye from Sydney

The Longest Boat Ride Ever!!!

I never knew that you could have a 45 minute ride on a gondola. We skipped a lot of the other places so we would be very close to the bridge of sighs which we went in and under the bridge. when we started we got a guy called Morano who had been doing it for 35 years. I was the question asker because I asked about 30 questions and some really silly questions like did the game Marco Polo come from the explorer Marco Polo? To communicate with other boats and tell them you are turning they yell “Oy!”. After we finished our tour we went to dinner which I will tell you about in the next post.
